A friend told me grizzly and then I googled a link. But you are right. Link just says bear.

Other than that, very few details how it happened. Sounds like the bear got in a few bites and bear spray put an end to that.

I've noticed over the years that Parks and fish cops seem to downplay anything that evolves grizzlies doing anything bad.
I don't subscribe to local paper anymore because it never covers anything that is actual news.
Cougar in town during day doesn't make the news. Garages and cars broken I to every night and robbers caught on video but RCMP do nothing don't make the news but town council is wonderful and all federal government is great. We rock. We are so great. Canada best country in the world. Nothing to see here

Que Canadian bear safety authority’s expert opinion! How many maulings has that been now in the last 12 months in the Rockies!? Unreal!

Expect more bear attacks this summer with clueless hikers from the city , and the growing bear population isn’t helping

Toss in clueless hikers from the country and it gets real interesting, hold my beer and watch this!

Seen how great bear spray was or is first hand, may buy you sometime and a further mauling but every situation is different.

All funnin aside shoot, shovel and shut up

I'm always looking to see if a loose dog triggered the attack, but that's just me.

Parks Canada calls it a “bear incident”.

It is remarkable how many dogs are on the trails in Waterton. Don't know if a dog was involved in this case, but unless you're using the dog as disposable bear bait to help with your escape, leave them at home.

Just My Opinion.
