Default Trail Cameras...What's your thoughts??

I have not used one at all in the past but I am considering buying one over the next few months. Any opinons on brands or price point?? What should I be looking for when shopping around?? I am looking in the range of $200-$300. Is this about right...too low/high?? Any information would help. Thanks in advance!!

tombow, do you have any pictures taken with that camera?
I have been waiting to see the quality of the pics this camera takes.

Thanks

If you want top notch pictures buy a homebrew camera. There are guys in Alberta and Sask making them for sale. A couple of pictures fro the ones I make.

The home brews do take some of the best pictures. I have found some kits online where you can buy everything you need minus the camera for around 120. All you have to do from there is hook your camera up to the wires. I think there is some wiring involved. The sony cameras that they use can be found for like 60-80. If you are looking for a store bought camera, I would suggest a bushnell trophy cam, scout guard or cuddeback. Stay away from the Stealth cams as they have some slow trigger speeds and horrible battery life. I have the sv650 and am not pleased with it at all. I'm getting a bushnell once I sell my Stealth cam.

Looks ok for the price. Big improvment on the previous Bushnell cameras.
Any ideas on battery life yet?

Default game cam

I've taken thousands of pics with my moultrie 5.0 outfitter and had no problems and replaced the batteries twice. I'll attach a few pics.

I had one up from aug 10th to dec 10th and changed the batteries once, and they were just below 1/2. when I took it down the last set were 1/4. I took about 300 15sec videos and about 2500 pics, battery life is good for me, smaller and cheaper too, good cam for the price I think.

i have two reconyx rm45's and should really add 2 or 4 more someday, very happy, battery life is insane with rechargeable nihm's (i use energizer rechargeables) and trigger speed is equally insane, super user friendly, picture quality isn't great but it was the last requirement i cared about....i want to know whats there and not miss anything, i have pictures of deer in full flight, coyotes in full flight at 10' running by this thing, birds etc. my old cuddeback no flash i don't think got one picture of a coyote but this thing gets them all, even if they are flying by, i'm a gear junky always looking to trade up to next best thing but these things are awesome to me and would add more of the same to the stable when i can put money that way, i've been running them constantly for two years, changing batteries so infrequently i'm not sure exactly how long they will last? its months before they drop from 80-ish% to 60% charge, i keep moving them around and swapping cards, they'll be sometimes a few thousand pics in a couple week span in a good spot etc. just awesome, if you want fancy color high mega pixel pictures then get something else....

Totally agree, I've two Rm45s, and they are the beeez Kneez. I haven't tried there color versions, but I'll bet they are good as well. Picture quality really is amazing for a 1.3mp camera. My batteries in the one that's been out since Sept last year were still at 62% when I changed them out in January, that's unbelievable performance.
