Marois said "We're moving forward in the name of all the women, all the men, who chose Quebec for our culture, for our freedom and for our diversity." That's a good spin... all these people who chose Quebec for it's freedom and diversity? They chose wrong. No freedom or diversity allowed.
Montreal has a very old and large Jewish population. Been here many generations. Anyone wearing a yarmulke need no longer look to any government or crown agency for a job.
Marois, Morsi.... more in common than just similar names. Oppress anyone "not like us".
This should be an interesting discussion. What are the guys that hate both Quebec and immigrants going to do?

Alberta will never ban funny hats ... so long as there are cowboys and cowgirls at Stampede.

The Quebec news media is not entirely out of line on this one. How often do we hear comments directed toward immigrants along the lines of "Fit in or get out!" ? The big difference is that Quebec is trying to make it law. I think they want to take on Ottawa again with the desired outcome of not quite separated but more moola for Quebec. They aim to fan the separatist flames. They already have discriminatory language laws there whilst the rest of Canada had trudopian bilingualism rammed down our throats. They'll pull this off too.

But this isn't just immigrants, this is all religous symbols. Can you wear a cross around your neck? I know lots of Mennonite women who drive school bus and wear a head scarf.
Many people seem to be focussing on turbans and alike, but it will go further.

I got no problems with turbines or other funny hats.
What I DO have a problem with are those Halloween costumes that completely cover a woman.
How do I know its a woman?
When I see one of THOSE in a bank or anywhere else where money is kept; or a government building, I get real nervous. Show your face, and show you're not carrying weapons or go away. And show your face on a driver's license photo.
If that attitude "offends" anyone, they're free to leave the country.

Who says Alberta wants secular legislation?
Who cares anyway?
Quebec is the most racist provinbce in the country...they use a document they7 refused to sign to thumb their noses at everyone and they have been on the nations teat sincxe transfer payementswas first legislated.
All they have going for them is a dairy industry, maple syrup and an NHL franchise.

Google Plan Nord. There is actually a great deal of resources in arctic Quebec, but a real reluctance exists to tap into it.
