for rifle hunting, i dont like it. there are some items of technical gear that you dont get a choice for, but mostly i dont like it because its a pain to take on and off all the time when i go to town for lunch or gas or whatever. i dont like wearing it when im around normal people simply because i dont need to advertise what im doing to those who hate hunting. i have no need to dress for the role or play a part....some guys just think its cool to wear the uniform. i dont care if you do or dont wear camo....but ive never understood why so many do care what i wear???

Camo is a chick magnet.

It's almost impossible to buy a hunting coat these days with lots of pockets and a quiet outer shell that isn't camo. I'm not a big fan of camo but my hunting coat is camo simply because I couldn't find a suitable hunting coat in my price range that wasn't camo.

Go Carhart. I don't wear camo either. Just Carhart work or play. Goodstuff. Comes in a few colors too.

It really does'nt matter what the camo pattern is. If the fabric is not UV neutral it will appear to "glow" to animals anyway.

Love my camo coat. Its very warm and comfortable. My kids tease me when I wear it.

I also have a Remington knife in camo and a Zippo lighter in camo. Almost bought my Yamaha Grizzly in camo a few years back too...I regret not going for it.

Camo is definately way cool!

Because it is the only time you can wear whatever the hell you want...and you have a damn good reason for it...and most people understand that.

That and it looks cool.....

The camo has become vogue; with camo painted trucks, guns, motor cycles etc, wedding gowns, hunting equipment. Some one is making a lot of money.......

Not to switch up this thread but what products do you use to combat the UV effect?

I had heard that simple baking soda works?

Cheers

I have read that UV neutralizer wash is not that effective. Not sure about baking soda , I have never looked into that. Wool in general is UV neutral depending on the manufacturing process. ie. dyes.

So Cover, question;
Do you wear wool and if so how do you launder it so the fabric stays neutral?
Thanks

Yes I wear wool. I think I have washed it once over the years . I also do not wear it all the time, depends what I am hunting and where.(ie prairie or forest) I used detergent that had no UV enhancers , made specifically for washing hunting clothes, no scents .

Default Camo

Animals who are in the habit of hiding to try avoid predators are in camo. Examples like a ruffed grouse or other ground nesting birds are all in camo.
Fish are dark on top half so they can`t be seen against the dark lake bottom and the fish are white on their bottom half so they are harder to see from below against the sky when they are part way up, this is mostly to survive when they are fingerlings. Ambush predators like a rattle snake are in camo. Other animals use the opposite of camo and are in bright colors when they want to be seen to attract a mate or warn off predators signaling to stay away because they are venomous like the coral snake or lion fish.
All the above must not be true because stop signs are the opposite of camo and people still don`t see them.
