Default Fly-fishing Forum

I have had requests for a Fly-fishing Forum and would like your thoughts on how often it would be used and/or if there is a need for it. Will it help unclutter this main Fishing Forum like the Archery and Guns and Ammo Forum helped unclutter the Hunting Forum?

Please, I do not want to hear that we need a "this" forum or a "that" forum because anything other than a Fly-fishing Forum will NOT be considered or even responded to. So, NO to an Ice-fishing Forum etc.

Thanks for your input.

I think that anything that helps streamline a discussion subject is a good thing unless it causes too much grief on admin side of things.

So I am all for it.

Thanks,
Leon

What problems? Oh yeah the guys who think that one rod is soo different from another. As guys you think we would get past the "rod" issue!

I think it would be a good idea, although there will likely be a lot of crossover discussions. Havent flyfished myself too often, but do intend on getting into it more this season so it would help shorten the search for help and advice for sure.

I don't think it is necessary. This forum has bout the same number of threads as either the general or the hunting forums but only half the posts.

My interests vary enough that I follow all interesting threads in this forum and ignore the ones that aren't of interest too me. I enjoy all types of fishing - but I prefer fly fishing.

I think that a lot of people (fly fishers) will be happy initially but disappointed when after a couple of months, every time they log on there are no new messages except "where is everyone" or "hasn't anyone been out lately"

The only time I find there to be too many posts for a quick glance is when I have been away for several days. Otherwise I don't think it is overwhelming.

My vote - leave it like it is

I think that there's enough fly fishermen/women on this forum to keep it busy and going fairly steady during the fishing season, and during the off season/winter it could be a good place to share fly patterns and whatnot. I think it's a good idea.

It looks like more favour the fly-fishing forum than those that don't. Having said that, the number is still quite close, which tells me we probably have it right the way it is. So for now, there will be no fly-fishing forum but I reserve the right to revisit this thread in the future.

Thanks everybody!

as a non-fly fisherman I would be all for it. There are lots of threads that are irrelevant and not interesting. Unless you check the forum regularly sifting through 3 pages of threads is a little much

I would also think however that th fly fishing thread would be fairly slow come hard ice season....

Same is said by us fly fishers. Pain in the butt going through 20 threads of pike and walleye threads.

ANOTHER PLUS ONE FROM ME.

As for what FH7 said. Fly fish calgary is a BMW forum (B*tching, Moaning, Whining). The mods are absolute tools.

I vote in favor, searching for info can sometimes be a bit time consuming and frustrating at times...on any subject for that matter. In the end, legwork is the way to go, but always nice to get some Quick tips lol. Poll, poll, poll!
