Default CNC Bolt Fluting

So I'm fed up with Photobucket. It's slow as ****, and now all my links are broken in my old thread. So I'm switching to imgur, and re-making this thread.

Link to the old thread

Here's what I've done so far. Little picture heavy:

Vortex Flutes:
Most popular by far. Less material removed (More wall thickness/integrity retained), nice visual effect. Typically 6 flutes.

On a Mauser style Bolt- Due to the claw type extractor, I had to interrupt 3 of the 6 flutes, so that the extractor wouldn't hang up during cycling. This bolt is from a Montana Rifle Co. Extreme X2.

Extractor removed:

On a Tikka T3 Bolt:

On a Remington 700 Short Action Bolt:

On a Remington 700 Long Action Bolt- by request I losened the helix (Not such a tight twist), and extended the lead in/out on the flutes (Second pic)

On a Savage Bolt:

On a Bushmaster ACR Barrel:

Facet Flutes:
Minimal material removed, maximum wall thickness retained. Technically 8 flutes, but it gives the illusion of 16, because of the way a center cutting end mill cuts on the top of a cylindrical surface. Shiniest finish haha

On a Tikka T3 and a Savage Bolt

6/8 Ball Flutes:
Called that because I use a ball nose end mill to cut them. Round bottom flutes, unlike the flat bottom on the Vortex. More material removed, less wall thickness retained. 6 or 8 flutes.

6 flutes on some barstock:

6 flutes, using a smaller diameter cutter, and 8 flutes. Also on barstock.

Diamond Flutes:
Similar to the 6 and 8 ball styles, but crosshatched. Maximum material removal, and maximum weight reduction. If you're concerned about such things

On a Tikka T3 Bolt:

Sample on some barstock:

Fishnet Flutes:
Not helical. Also a little more difficult to cut, especially on harder bolts like Savage. The one example I did beat up by inserts pretty bad. May have to charge more for this style on hardened bolts to account for increased insert costs.

On a Savage Bolt:

Just sent three Tikka T3 bolts down. Can't wait to see the finished product. Will add some pics once they are back in the rifles.
