AO Help Hotline!!
Odd request for a Sunday morning:
Had a sidewall blowout west of Caroline. Spare is flat, compressor got left at home.
Would anyone in the area with a compressor be willing to please lend me a hand?

You don't need a compressor, just siphon some gas out of the tank.

You're welcome.

I don't think a compressor will fix that.
Better off using gas and light that tire on fire.
Who was driving?

Disaster averted!
A very friendly and helpful AO member answered my call for help and drove up to find us. We're back on the road thanks to the AO COMMUNITY.
Thank you all for the offers for help.

That would raise the areas mean IQ average substantially. Or he's being interviewed by Trump for a prime government posting as we speak.
Sometimes Darwin was just wrong.

Hey there Gibson it was good to meet you and your wife and it was a pleasure to help out some fellow outdoorsmen/women in need. I've been in your shoes before and as fate would have it I tagged out the day before so that left me available to help you out on such short notice. Good luck the rest of the way buddy !

Aside from the stupidity involved in that display, the method is actually quite sound if done safely. Yup, I tried it a while ago.

That was a helluva day!
Those of us who have been active on AO for many years know how good it can be. Here's a good story.
Yesterday, we ran into trouble early. Just 5 minutes into our hunting area on route to our blind spots,, I feel the truck wobbling like it has a flat tire. I stop the truck, and get out to inspect the tires. What I find was a sidewall failure on one of my beloved BFG KO2's. After looking at it for about 30 seconds, I realized it may pop and we should get in the truck in case poop went flying. It popped 10 seconds later and it was as loud as a gun shot.
No biggie, drop the spare and get back to hunting right?
Well, the spare was flat. That'll teach me for not checking it before hunting season began. (Checked it in the early summer and it was good).
So, we're in the bush and we are stuck.
Well, I threw a post in the hunting section hoping someone was in the area. Not a word of a lie, 2 minutes later I get a reply from a guy I've never met, offering help. He drove up with a compressor, pumped up my spare, I changed my tire - and were back on the road in under an hour and a half.
John wouldn't accept any cash, or anything for that matter. He simply offered; "We hunters need to stick together. Pay it forward".
Hell yeah John. Absolutely.

You mean your shop compressor?
I never go anywhere without a portable air compressor. I bought 2 or 3 of the bigger Canadian Tire ones when they went on sale. They work much nicer than the small buzzy ones. Never gets hot, and pumps a tire up fast.
I believe that they probably pop fuses, though if you try using it with the truck not running; not to mention drawing down the battery. And they really need a carrying case.
I use a .50 cal surplus ammo box to carry mine, and it leaves enough room to throw in a tire repair patch and plug kit, spare valve cores, and caps.
