Default Vx3i leupold 2.5-8x36mm

Has any used both the old vx-III 2.5-8x36mm vs the new 'i' version? I almost picked one up as it seemed reasonably priced but I'm wondering about the product line in general offered by leupold. I had an old one from 17yrs ago and I'm wishing I still had it.

I haven't used the newer ones but the older ones are excellent scopes.

Default Vx3i leupold 2.5-8x36mm

I've had both, still have the "i" version. Optically I couldn't tell a difference between the vx3 and vx3i. Aesthetically the "i" version has a shorter power ring adjuster with a more ergonomic ring, it's a hair shorter overall and I find it better looking to my eye(s). They're pretty much the same scope but obviously you can only go to the store and buy the latest version. The last one I got at wholesale was $589 with a $75 instant rebate.

This is the part of the scope that is different between the two models but I haven't got a picture of the older vx3, easy to find one online though.

I have one sitting at home currently awaiting a steed. What are you mounting it to?

Have used the VX-3 version for the last 7 years on my hunting rifle and very happy with it.

A tikka. I should of kept my old 2.5-8 but I didn't. Are the new ones as good as the older ones? These 'i' version seem priced less. Just wondering if leupold cheaped out.

One thing better about the newer ones is the price, I remember seeing the original ones for over $800 20 - 25 years ago.

Thats the thing. Why are they cheaper? I guess there is more competition and offerings regarding scopes now. I am considering a z3 or one of these v3i just haven't decided yet.

Competition is the only thing I can think of.
