Default Southern Alberta ice reports

Any one have any ice reports in the south part of the province? Mainly Calgary and south. Kid is wanting to get out and I want to make their enough safe ice to venture out. Thx!

Was at Chain off of 22 a few hours ago, it had around 1 unch of ice. No good for a while yet

Dalemead east of Calgary had about 5 inches yesterday. Still use caution, especially with the kiddos

Ya, should build 1-2 inches of ice in that time frame in the shallow waters, not so sure about the deeper stuff, be real careful out there

Solid 8 inch today by north dam. Fishing was good too, got 3 burbot and 3 whitefish. Interestingly, all burbot bellies were stuffed with 1-2 inch crayfish. About 10 years ago we would find tons of little perch in them, not anymore, not a single found today. Zero limit pike and walleye sure has something to do with it I think.

Thanks for the update we were heading to either spray or upper kananakis ans worried ice might not be thick enough. 6 in is good!

Heading out to our fave southern AB walleye destination next Sunday, so i'm hopeful. Forecast looks like ice making weather all this week, so should be solid walk-on ice by the weekend. It's time!!

If this cold snap continues, we should see near 1" of new ice every night....in southern Alberta alone...

I am waiting for January 01 for a hard base to walk one... But that is just me.....Driving on the ice is a whole different animal....

Stay safe....

Default South Ab ice

With a fast freeze like this keep an eye out for ice breakers, they can ruin a fishing trip in short order.

Default Beaver Mines Lake

We were out at Beaver Mines Lake today (Dec. 19), the ice was about 5" where we were near the scout camp.
