Who is on the KETO diet right now...
On day 28, by far the easiest diet I have been on. Food had been great, and never hungry, have to force my self to eat.

Keto is an awesome diet to get shredded on. Once your body has become fat adapted and utilizing ketones for fuel, you are on your way.
Energy through the roof plus memory and just better mental sharpness is also noticed. I have done keto off and on the last 5 years in between bulking cycles.
First time I was on it I lost 26lbs in just under 3 months.
There too many success stories to dispute it...

Yes, it really pi**es me off when you look at everything in the grocery store is loaded with carbs. No wonder cancer and dementia are on the rise!

Stay away from vegetables that are on the high side of the glycemic index.
Also do yourself a favour and buy a ketone/glucose monitor

I love this kind of stuff. You can’t buy discipline or commitment. It’s all within us though.
Too many people are worried about having “stuff” and spending too much time in this materialistic merry go round nowadays and not commiting to their health.
This is all very empowering and inspiring folks..

Well been some time time since I last posted.
Started hard February 1, and up to date, I am down 30 lbs.
I went hard for two months, now just enjoying the clean eating.
I don't have a huge I gotta eat everything on the table, just have a small meal, and full. A ton of water every day, which is good, vitamins, exercise and this old boy feels 15 years younger.
Good stuff everyone, congrats to all.

I was about 250 - three, four weeks ago. Don't know where I am at now but I will soon have to bring out the old jeans that were just a wee bit too tight..... ok they wouldn't go up over my legs... and I have to punch a new hole in my belt. The hard part is what to do for lunch at work? I have a bunch of homemade Pastrami and Montreal Smoked beef in the freezer that I was supposed to take in sandwiches for lunch! Dang. Still crave one of those sandwiches but the bread was bothering me - more so than I knew at the time. I was having troubles with my stomach, that has cleared up since stopping all flour. If you are on facebook there is at least one Keto group to get info from, other than that my gf googles all we need to know.

You could also check out intermittent fasting. More leanient in foods but you eat all your food in an 8 hour window.

I have an excellent keto bread recipe...100% FORGET about beer and choose a hard liquor to put over ice or with water or with soda water.
The website I use is https://www.dietdoctor.com/

Coming up on a year on Keto myself.
SW 285lbs
CW 181lbs
GW 170lbs
I was diagnosed as a T2 diabetic a year prior to Keto with an A1C of 11.8, my A1C has been 5.1 for 6 mos now and HDL, and TG numbers have improved greatly. Resting heart rate went from avg of 95 bpm to 60 bpm I also went from a tight size 42 pant to a loose size 30 in that time.
Keto is great as long as you understand that you should be eating "Real" foods in the macros that make sense for your body type and desired results. I've seen too many get sucked in chasing those old favourites in Keto form (breads, sweets etc.).
Fat is important as it becomes your body's new fuel but the quality of that fat is just as important. The most important thing I have learned is to really understand where what I eat comes from and how it gets to me.
As others have said this is really a way of life or rather a way of eating for the rest of my life. I've had a few slips along the way and it's amazing how quickly a few pounds sneak back on! Likely a result of the damage to my liver and pancreas done by a lifetime of carb addiction.
With time I know Keto will cure that as well.
Cheers,
Scott.

There is a reason why some of the leading scientists in nutrition are beginning world wide studies in foods and correlations to diseases such as cancer. By starving the disease of it's favorite food source the cancers can be slowed and some cases reversed. Ketogenetic diet tailored to specific foods are showing promise. It's not all about cut, slash, burn and stitch anymore.

They are similar in the initial phase in that carbs are limited. They differ due to the amount of protein consumed in Atkins. Too much protein (above your macros) on Keto and the body starts to convert it to "sugar" and treat it as it would carbs for fuel or storage (fat).
Here is my before and after pictures so far.
Cheers,
Scott.

Join the keto gains facebook group, the whole "to much protein turns into sugar" is not as big a threat as most think. You would have to ingest a mass amount of protein for that to actually start happening. If you join the group there is alot of scientific backing into this.
