You're going to have your ass handed to you by those trout specifically, if you dont have the patience to wait more then 5 hours for a response....

Streamers are a good choice. Try the upper sections near the springs. They will be the only parts ice free.

Try fishing the deeper pools and fish during he warmest part of he day.
I wanted to head out last weekend but ended up working late on Friday and didn't make it out.
Looks like it is getting cold again.
Good luck.

Where is Stauffer? I've heard the name but couldn't find it listed in the regs.

Bears and cougars, maybe. There used to be a white dog that would visit and scare the heck out of me. The bush is thick and noisy which had me wondering what it was that approached. I have lots of great memories at Stauffer, not very many of them involve catching fish. That isn't to say that they aren't there, but for the most part, they bested me.

One evening a friend and I emerged from the thickness surrounding Stauffer to where we had parked near the bridge on 761. We had been beaten both by the creek and the hike in and out. As we got to the guard rail a fella and his wife pulled up in a car and parked. He grabbed a spinning rod from the trunk with a single spoon tied to it, walked down to the bank next to the bridge and sent the lure in. Wham. Nice Brown, looked to be somewhere around 16 inches. We left.
