That's a Prussian carp, a fairly big one too. Kill everyone you catch please.

I caught it in one of the ponds in Red Deer. I had no idea what it was so I put it back, but I won't be next time.

Which pond?

The RDR is quite bad too - seen a couple schools last summer numbering in the hundreds close to the Waskasoo entrance to the river.

Brutal that some people think its ok to throw non native fish into our ponds and streams. Of all the pics posted, seems to be the largest one caught yet.

What did you catch it on?
I'm doing a canoe trip on the reddeer in a month, and now I feel like I should spend some time trying to kill some carp.

Quite a slab. Must be scrappy if they built like that.

I caught it on a spoon, but it was more a case of it must have taken a stab at the spoon and got foul hooked as it was hooked in the stomach. Either that are there were just so many that it got hooked as I was reeling in. I went back today to check it out again and the water was a bit clearer. You could see schools of them all around the same size as the one in the picture. I guess we better hope the river doesn't flood into the pond again.

People need to spread this video. I can't believe that there are still fishermen that do not know about the Prussian Carp problem in the province. This video is years old. There has even been a news broadcast on CBC about them.

Kill em guys!
