well arrowed a buck tonight.......
well i put a arrow in a nice 4x4 around 8 tonight. problem is shot looked good but there was a smack noise with it. the arrow looked like it went in half way of the shaft. got on a nice blood trail there was lots of sprayed blood on the grass. i followed that for about a km then the blood started turning dark and looked like there was poop in it and then the trail of blood just stopped. i know the shot wasn't that far back so i don't know what happened, im going out first ting in light to search. is there any chance of him dying?? any suggestions to find him??
its going to be a sleepless night.

Good decision to leave him overnight. Sounds like possibly a shoulder hit in regards to the sound you heard, mabye on the opposite side. Darker blood is a good indication of a liver shot as well. Was he quartering away?

Deer tend to crap alot, maybe he pooped and blood dripped on it?? I shot a buck on Friday night and had the same sound, only I hit the heart before it lodged in his off side shoulder! Was a loud cracking sound! Thought I missed until I found blood, he was down after 75-80 yards!

If the blood was frothy and sprayed you may have clipped the back part of the lung, but i suspect if it was dark you got the liver.
Quartering TO you , you would not have hot the far shoulder, but if you think the arrow went half way in you may have hit a back rib.
The buck likely will likely have a perforated diaphragm so it won't be able to get too far.
If you are lucky you may get him.
A bit of advice here - quartering away or broadside only!
I know this is after the fact, but those are the only two shots that most archers take , for the very reason that they are the only ones that will reliably take out the lungs or heart.
Hopefully you have already picked him up!

It is amazing how far they can go in those circumstances isn't it? Nick the heart, smack a front shoulder hard and adrenaline "still" carries them 75+ yards.
To the OP, great patience and perseverance. And fantastic buck!!. Well done!

I found him finally after making grid crossing on a chunk of bush all moring . I went home to get some water then headed back out and try a different chunk of bush. Then I seen a crow fly up from bush and the buck was 20 yards in. Glad I found him tho.

Good job. Persistence pays off.
You just got a great education. Take what you have learned from this experience and you will be far ahead of many who give up.

There's lots of good ones, including a several award winning taxidermists on this forum... a.k.a. SugarCreek, DoubleShovel, Artistic Taxidermy, and others I'm sure.
