Allstones Lake
I just spent 3 days at Allstones with a couple buddies. First time there for me, but was expecting to work my fly rod 16 hrs a day. The water is quite high, pretty much to the trees, so if you're looking at fly fishing there in the next little while.....pack a spinning rod. There is just no room to cast with the water level as high as it is. Fishing was slow until last night, we hit a hot streak for about 90 minutes or so. Great little brookies in there, smoked one for a few hours and it was outstanding. I'll be back to slay that lake with flies, but I'll wait until later in the summer next time. Good luck... and enjoy the hike!
