Okayill quit beating around the bush and just ask. I'm looking for a "pothole" lake near edmonton that I can take a kid to, and use my 12ft aluminum with a gas motor. Is there such thing? Or is Carson the best bet?

I'd suggest Jackfish Lake by Carvel, but I've heard it's really soupy with all this warm weather.
