Eau Claire Distillery Single Malt
The first single malt whiskey to be distilled in Alberta, I picked up my bottle on Saturday (#1006). Anybody else get some? Anyone tried it yet?
I think I’ll open mine in the new year.

I haven't, I've been waiting to try before I buy. I've had the Two Brewer's single malt from Yukon, and was underwhelmed, particularly for the price. Hopefully the Eau Claire is a step up.

I wasn’t planning to as I’ve not yet found a young whiskey that I really enjoyed but decided on a whim to place my order.

Danielle Smith was interviewing the owner this morning on 770. Made in Turner Valley!

Don’t hold that against them! 😀
A good little distillery, they also make a nice gin and vodka, both with Alberta barley.

Oh yeah, and booze. Back to the topic at hand. Sorry for the derail correction.

x2! The gin is top notch! If you get a chance, try the Gin Rummy and Christmas Gin from Eau Claire.

The gin and vodka are carried by Sobeys Liquor, but not sure about the whiskey. Haven't been to the distillery so I can't comment on if you can purchase it there.

You can. I went on Saturday to see if I could taste the Whiskey but there was none to be had. They had a pretty good stock of the Christmas gin and their sugar free tonic though so I was happy.
I would try to miss the end of the tours though, place was PACKED.

I took a tour/tasting and was not very impressed. Tour was uniformitive, and the gins were sub par and flat and the vodka tasted dirty. I would not hold 3 year whiskey in high regard from anyone, let alone from them.

So it's a basically a scotch, just not made in Scotland. 3 years isn't long in comparison to others, but you have to start somewhere.
Wouldn't mind trying it, but I'm more of a bourbon guy.

Thanks for the info. I drove past the distillery many times during hunten season, think it's time for a visit.
