I haven't been pheasant hunting since 2008 when I was stationed in South Dakota so today was probably the most fun, my solo Alberta trip aside, I've had in two-three years hunting. A HUGE thank you to another forum member for taking me out. Other than a buddies Brittany in early 2000s I've never hunted over a pointer and watching his dog work today was absolutely incredible! The amount of energy that's transferred from that dogs legs to the ground when he goes into a STONE point in .0000007 seconds amazed me! Just awesome.
I'd love to guess on how many miles that dog covered in our 1.5 hours of walking but I'm fearful it would be 10 miles to short. Previously when I've seen/read the traditional lab vs pointer upland debate I always thought to myself "I feel like my lab could run with a pointer, I mean she has a a lot of energy". Couldn't be further from the truth after watching the ground this dog covered. Awesome awesome day and I'm forever grateful that two years ago he talked me into coming down to the club to shoot some skeet as he has become quite a mentor and a friend.
