Please do tell,,how it is bogus.
been doing a lil reasearch since we last spoke, almost every game animal that is present in AB ,, has been reintroduced at some point, that would make them not Native because of the 10 or 12000 year gap in history. Atleast that is what some have said I do believe.
As per Site you say this would be bogus information?
Distribution and Habitat
Before 1492 wapiti are relatively rare in the fossil record, but rapidly grew in abundance after the demise of North America's human populations from Eurasian diseases and genocide. They reached their maximum geographic range well before 1800. By 1835, however, the wapiti had disappeared from their eastern range (Ontario and Québec) through over hunting. They were re-introduced into Ontario, where they are thriving. They went extinct in Alberta prior to 1913, but were reintroduced from Yellowstone National Park (in the central northwestern United States) by 1917. There are scattered populations east of the Rockies in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. They are found along the Rockies in British Columbia as well as on Vancouver Island and a small population introduced to the coast. A small introduced population is also found in Yukon.

I don't know. You made irrational arguments. Do you?
I assume you (again) don't want to address the inconsistencies in your argument that I summarized for you in Post #245?

laughble, sitting in your lazyboy in eastern alberta saying feral horses are not doing any to the envoirment and demanding someone bring you proof your right. LMAO
I don't see your type out there during the winter when the evidence is plain as the nose on your face. perhaps you should venture out there and observe before you make emotional rants that are intended to mislead.

I haven't joined in lots of arguements...is there an asgenda behind all those too? LMAO Let's stick to feral horses, the topic of the thread and not help another massive derail. I know, it's hard to focus on one thing but concentrate.

You have zero clue how much time I have spent in the mountains, I lived in them for 20 Plus years, so give your head a shake. this is about facts and I found a bunch of interesting ones of reintroduced species that were extinct in this country.

Off the top of my head, I think all we're left with are cutthroats and whitefish in the West Country. That sound about right?
ps: Jeez, I hope our walleye are native. I really like walleye and would hate to see them exterminated....

I guess the argument is made how much prior to 1913? Else where they talk about the 1830's but Alberta the number is 1913. Reintroduced in 1917. Yep 4yrs.
Keep grasping at those strawmen arguments.

Is this thread really not about being selective of what we call native?
Who decides and when does it stop?

Did someone say moose were "extict" at some point in Alberta? I didn't click the link but I would be very suspicious of that source...

Your problem is that I focus too much and we both know that. Your rationale flip flops depending on which thread you speak on.
If that's how it goes, then I see no point in any further debate with you. This is like arguing with my wife. I cannot win - by definition. It's in a Rule Book somewhere that I've never seen.........

There's the issue in a nutshell.
And if any species that is not "native" should be culled from the West County for that reason, all I can say to those who want to see it is: "Buckle Up"!

Yer crappy links say nothing. Try again.
From your own links the extripation of elk in Alberta (if it even occurred) lasted for 4yrs. Compares really well with the 10,000yrs that horses where gone.
Maybe you should look up the strawman argument? Absurdity and hyperbole is all you have brought to the table.
Point of fact is these horses are feral livestock and should be treated as feral livestock. Try to take the romanticized vision of horses that you have and tone it down a bit.
If these were cattle I would say the same thing.

Actually ESRD is making some attempts to remove non-native species that compete with native species....other than horses that is.
