Outfitter/Guide responsibility & liability ?
With all the talk about "Cecil", I was curious as to the outfitters/guides/PH's liability or responsibility when it comes to them leading the hunter into an area where hunting is prohibited or into a different province or even country, or them baiting prior to your arrival without your knowledge ?
Where does the hunters' responsibility end, and the guides'/outfitters'/PHs' responsibility or liability begin ?
If a PH leads you into a "restricted area", or baits an animal without your knowledge, does (or should ?) the hunter have any legal responsibility ?

It's the guide/outfitter's responsibility to ensure the client is legal.
I've had clients who wanted to kill game in a WMU we were not legal as well as shoot game on my resident tag, when we had no allocations for the animal in question. These cases make for an interesting hunt and unhappy clients.LOL oh yeah and no tips.

100% they rely on the Guide/Outfitter/PH
If the hunt is in North America I research the area first and often times bring my own GPS so I know where I am.
Across the pound there are no regs books or zones to study. You book with a reputable Outfitter/PH and hope they don't lie to you.

The hunter relies on the guide.
The guide has to know his business.
If not, then this kinda crap happens.
I blame the guide 100% of the time.

You cannot claim ignorance of the law when you hunt and fish

You don't know anything.
Client hires me because I know the job. Client listens to me. If he doesn't, he goes home, without his trophy and without a refund.
Wanna hunt in my country, I will take you. But you will play by the rules or you will be on the next floatplane.
When something goes wrong it is because the guide wasn't doing his job.
If the client wants to read the regs, good. But he doesn't know anything.

As a hunting guide is working for an outfitter I think responsibility also lies on the outfitters shoulders to ensure the guide is up to par too.

A hunter that needs a guide is incompetent when it comes to the outdoors and should not be hunting

So if you are a non resident hunting in Alberta, you'd ignore the regs?
Like Huntinstuff said, if you were my client you'd be long gone John and I'd be talking about you back at the campfire.

They also whine about Cabelas employees taking their gun in the back and figuring out which trigger lock fits a 4K gun the best...

A non resident needs a guide or hunter host to hunt big game in Alberta.
You are either purposely trolling or just an ignorant idiot
Which is it ?
