I’m not a fan of the oilers or flames, but the oilers are much more entertaining.

One good thing in going to an upcoming Oilers game next week is that one of my boys (11 years old) was chosen as the Scotia Bank skater to lead the Oilers onto the ice. and with that 4 seats for our family to watch the game.
A once in a lifetime opportunity for any child and since my son is an Oilers fan, he really hopes that Ryan Nugent Hopkins is off the IR by then as that's his favorite player.
This will be the first game in the new arena for my boys and wife to watch as the last game we attended as a family was the last game played in Rexall Place against Vancouver. I went to Playoff Game 3 against Anaheim last April as I was in the city for work meetings and it was better than sitting in the hotel room that night...except for the outcome of the game.

Can he play defence?
But seriously, it will be a great experience for your son.

I was thinking more like Keystone Cops. A lot of skating around with a great deal of incompetence, including constantly coughing up/turning over pucks and colliding with one another. The only missing is them becoming entangled in clotheslines, ladders, or folding tents.
Entertaining to watch, unless you're a dyed in the wool fan. Mclellan must be constantly chewing Aspergum on the bench, otherwise he would have surely had a stroke by now.

Hmmmm, Seattle Shames It would be a shame (no pun intended), as you really have to admire the Flames for coming out to play every night. With Smith out however, they have been adversely affected. But in typical Bettman fashion, he's blaming an old building and trying his best to coerce/extort money out of the taxpayers of Calgary. Hey, if it worked for Edmonton.................

The league seems pretty adamant on a new arena ASAP. Who’s going to pay for it? Crappy situation and it doesn’t look like anyone is willing to step up and eat that hefty bill.

When was this...playing now for St.Louis maybe.
One of the worst picks Edmonton has made. Management should not of listened to Katz.

NHL central scouting had him ranked as the top player in the draft not just the oilers. The majority of NHL teams of given that #1 pick would have taken him.

"It was the 13th time this season the Oilers have allowed a goal on their opponent's first shot of the game."
That's a rough stat.

It’s an unbelievable stat.
I swear someone’s making some serious book bets on that!!!!
I dunno folks......
The only reason I kept cable was to watch oilers games.
Think I’m canceling cable now.
I’m pretty bummed.
Hurt my knee falling off a ladder yesterday.... chopping out ice dams.
Can’t run for a bit.
Really got the shack nasties..... Oil game didn’t help much.
No effort there by a lot of guys.
Sad

Me too. Wiped out my truck in an accident yesterday afternoon. Caused by snowstorm conditions, but ultimately my fault. Sisterinlaw came close to meeting her Maker in a heart attack Friday. Had one surgery and is waiting in hsopital for heart to strengthen up enough for the second operation. Just a crappy weekend. Was hoping for an enjoyable distraction from reality last night. It just didn't come.
If Talbot alone played like he did last year, we would be in a solid battle for the playoffs. Add to the off-season list a goalie who can legitimately challenge Talbot next year. Damn that list is getting longer by the day. So disappointing.

Bored last night, so I went through all the current rosters. How the $^&* did Chia think that our D-Core (even with Sekera) was "cup contender" material. Even if Klefbom played at the same level as last year, Nurse is the closest we have to a #1. I know Talbot took a "step back" this year, but I feel in part that happened because he had literally no confidence in his defense.
Lucic looked like he had cement shoes on in the defensive zone and goal #1 was on him. No coverage in front of our net. We couldn't get a rebound last night as the Rangers had excellent coverage down low, and they literally have no one on defense other than Staal and he is a 3rd/4th D-man at best.
Upside, I like the Aberg trade and Bear makes trading Klefbom/Sekera and draft picks for a legit 1/2 d-man a possibility. Nashville and Tampa Bay are going to need to dump some D-man next year and Chia better do something drastic or we will be in the same boat next March.
It is down right ugly.

I’m liking what I’m seeing in Bear. Most players on their first call up can’t wait to get rid of the puck when it comes to them. To the point of brutal turnovers. He showed a lot of composure.

Me too. In just two outings he seemed to be already playing with some confidence. Seems fairly speedy too.

It was a couple of teenage kids. Not fair to paint all Edmonton fans with that.
