Default Y2Y Bad for Alberta Hunters

I was watching a youtube video on Willmore, as the video past the middle at 30:32 a Jason Fisher was talking about the willmore, when the words of y2y came out, I got a bad feeling, did a goggle search, and this is what I found, Y2y funds his operation, in part, why do these people trash Alberta when they can.

It's part of their MO. No use for Y2Y at all. If they had their way, there would be a buffer zone around the Rockies that no humans would be able to enter.

here's a link to the Y2Y stance on hunting, fishing, trapping:
https://y2y.net/about-us/policies/y2...fishing-policy

Doesn't sound too threatening to me.

The Y2Y statement equals a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

Alberta Backcountry Hunters and Anglers is also an arm, ( or tentacle) funded by Y2Y.

You need to pull your head out of the sand and do some REAL research.

It’s really sad what some hunters will believe...

Is there a group that supports hunting and fishing but is seriously concerned about protection of the backcountry environment?? I'm over 60 and still good with having to walk into some areas and carry or drag out what I harvest (and I'll be good with it when I'm to old to do it). Not trying to be cranky, just asking if there is such a body.

Not threatening, but definite agenda based.

First point made. They believe fishing and hunting is your right. FOR ABORIGINAL PEOPLE.

White Anglo Saxons be damned.

They do not want anybody(except the odd FN) on public land in the mountains. Period.

And yes, BHA has y2y as an affiliated group, or visa versa. Whatever. Both are eletist organizations.

That reads like a lawyer from Trudeau's office wrote it... Their very first "recognition",

"Hunting is an Indigenous right".

Last thing they "recognize" -

"Hunting MAY be an appropriate means to help maintain or manage fish and wildlife population health.

And immediately following that, they start in with the whole "Energy Policy" and Climate Change hogwash...

I hope you were being cheeky when you said they "don't sound threatening to me".

That is simply not true. I'd encourage you to meet with some of the folks involved in the organization.

I don't know if they are funded, but they certainly are on the same team.

They will work together on issues that agree with the platforms of each, and I can't say I necessarily care for that policy. However this idea that BHA are some kind of undercover anti hunting organization is so deeply misguided.

As far as funding, I've seen the numbers. There's no secret backdoor money funneling. BHA is fully self sufficient.

I have personally banned him at least 5x. Likely more. One wonders why he wants to peddle his poison on this forum so badly. Wolf.

That right there is enough for myself and many others to steer completely clear of BHA.

Hunters and anglers jumping in bed with the enemy...

Could be that other nut, Dwight Rodtka too......lol. Both of them like to hang out on the Trapping forum periodically when they just can’t help themselves from commenting on something.

Y2Y would like to create a big zoo from Yellowstone to Yukon. BHA would like the same with a few stipulations for outdoorsmen to make them sound legit. The end game is the same for both orgs.

I don’t think so, but that bunch like to pass themselves off that way. I’m pretty sure that he was a bureaucrat at a national park.......maybe Banff?

Yup, pretty sure Y2Y as well. I remember a thread years ago that Rob distanced himself and his magazine from Don’s comments on here. Rob actually posted a disclaimer stating that Don’s views were not representative of him or his magazine.

Correct, he was the Superintendent of Banff national park.

Google him, read some of his articles. Maybe see what his latest BS is on wolf hunting. He also had lots to say on banning grizzly hunting... He calls himself a hunter when it fits his narrative.

And he was listed as a part of the BHA board of directors as a consultant if I remember correctly. I see they have removed that now.

Exactly. And they are dumb enough to believe Y2Y isn’t anti hunting. Y2Y won’t be happy until our west country is closed off to human activity. You are a fool if you believe otherwise...
