2 years ago I got a portrait of my 2 boys on the shoulder, the price was right as I built a reception counter for him and traded some tattoo time for it. We even had the boys write out their name and he added it below. So happy with it, and had so many compliments...

The first one is on my left shoulder and is a design I worked with my artist to design. It is actually a snare drum, I am a drummer. The next is on my right bicep and wraps right around the arm, the death dealer is on my right shoulder. The black work is done on the right arm, going in for some more color work on Nov 15th. It's not as painful as some would think, depending on your artist.

I drew this one up when I retired from riding.
I guess I will have to get it removed next summer.

I got this owl done over 3 sessions. It's not that painful really, just breath and be calm.
As for healing, mine healed up perfectly. It was explained in the care sheet they gave me that rinsing it thouroughly when the bandage comes off prevents scarring, scabbing, stuff like that. I did that and all I had was some minor skin flaking.
If you do get one put some thought into it and find a good artist who can bring the concept to life for you. Or pick barbed wire out of a book, whatever makes you happy

Dad said that if I ever got an earing or a Tattoo, I'd be shot. (I'm 40)
The only ink I get, is on my hand when I try to take a pen away from my 2 year old.

Got this one in Edmonton back in 96
It's the Rolling Stones logo from the Vodoo Lounge tour
Tongue and lips, with spikes...
I am a very, very, very big Rolling Stones Fan...it was also the summer I kinda became a man..so it it does have some value beyond the $$ and ink for me...
I was hungover, 9 a.m., and looked like an x con...so did the guy putting the ink in..

The only one I have is some text around my wrist of my sons name and birth date. It is just a nice hand written text.
I am thinking about getting an underwater portrait with fish, weeds, and structure. Probably on my calf. I don't think I want something big that can be seen all the time.

Wolf and grizzly tracks:
Scorpion:
Juvenile tarantula ( Avicularia urticans) on a Brazilian nut tree blossom:
My cattle brand:
Mojave rattlesnake ( Crotalus scutulatus scutulatus) around my wrist:

Just wait till you are all old with saggy skin! I imagine those tattoos will look like so much wrinkled laundry. But, to each his or her own!

I see that not too many folks are saying where they get work done.
I am thinking of getting something done that I want to look alive. Any suggestions for the Calgary area? I am thinking of a Leopard lazing in a tree of the Gemsbok I took in RSA.
I want to be sure that this is the right person as I have seen some botched portraits that look like a poltergeist movie.

Had mine done at Deadly Tattoos in Calgary. www.deadlytattoos.com/ Just east of Chinook Mall. Check out the galleries. Dave Fried did mine and my brothers. Very happy with results. James Tex does amazing work too. Be prepared for a wait to get in but totally worth it. Spend the cash and have good work done. "Good work ain't cheap. My artist is in Toronto but all I could advise is really do your home work in the artist. I`ve seen really horrible work done and its forever! ask for recent pictures that they have tattoo`d. Even before they ink ya, you get to see what sketch they came up with. if your going to black and shaded find a artist who is experienced vis versa with colour. Really do your home work. good luck!
