not my biggest of the winter, but a decent rainbow and splake from the last time I went out. These both came from the same lake.

Yeah, it's built right into my net- it's a 'Measurenet'.
My buddy, Rick, doesn't like when I net his fish for him; it subtracts an inch or two from his estimate...

My biggest of the winter was this 18" rainbow out of a trout pond that winter killed last year and then got fished out right after it was stocked in the Spring.

Brookie slime is a pain to deal with but I just run a knife backwards over them as if you were scaling them. Over and over and over...until it's gone. Cut the fins off first as they hold a lot of slime. Once you have most of it off, use dry paper towel to clean up the rest.

Lot of work but worth it as brookies are my favorite to eat.
