Default Fly Rivers Near Edmonton

Hey Everyone,

Last year was my first year of fly fishing, and needless to say, I was hooked (pun SO intended). Anyways, I live in south edmonton, and I am wondering of any streams/creeks/rivers near Edmonton, within an 1.5 hrs.

Do I want your honey hole? No.

I am just looking for a creek that I can focus on my form and possibly hook into a trout or two.

Also, After decorating too many trees with flies last year, any tips for avoiding that?

And what are some must-have flies? I am running low.

Thanks for all the help ladies and gentlemen.

-Jeff

What about the North Saskatchewan River . Probably one of the best fisheries around and most unutilized

I've heard people mention a few areas, such as hermitage. Are these points easily accessible? And is there a place where I can view the access points?

Thanks Jon!

Addictive, isn't it?

Learn to Roll Cast. Seriously, it's the best cast for avoiding snags as there is no back cast involved.

Have fun.

bead head hares ear
bead head prince
bead head pheasant tail

parachute adams
olive/tan caddis
yellow/orange simulator

stretch your hour and half a little and take a drive out 16 and sw of edson. explore and you'll be rewarded. have fun.

It is about 2 hours to the Red Deer River (Dickson Dam) or Stauffer Creek. Whites, goldeye and monstrous browns in the Red Deer, and picturesque trout stream in Stauffer Creek.
