Default Fenwick Eagle GT and fireline?

Canadian tire had a sale on fireline a couple weeks ago and despite being unimpressed with super braids in the past I decided to give it another try. The rod I plan to use it with is a Fenwick Eagle GT rod, In the past I've had super braids completely shred the rod guides on some rods very quickly so I figured I'd ask and see if anyone has used braid with this particular rod.

Ive never had a issue with 832 braid being abrasive on equipment but fireline being a fused superline as opposed to a braided super line, you should be safe.

I had no issue with power pro on my GT guides. I have had problems with the rod itself, I had the rod snap in -20 weather while I was open-water fishing for bulltrout in jasper. But obviously it was the temperature that caused that, and was stupid on my part haha

Thanks, the rod got left behind at my wife's work for over a year so she finaly brought it home and gave it to me along with a shimano solstace reel. I havnt realy used it very much, favoring a couple other rigs I have but I figured I'd load it up with 10lb fireline. I spool my current go-to walleye rod with 10lb mono, I'm thinking these two rods will make a little more versitile walleye arsenal in most cases than the bait casting rig I usualy bring.

For future reference, when selecting a rod look for guides that have Alconite or silicone carbide inserts in the guides. These materials handle the new braided lines way better than the older guide components. Fuji guides are excellent.
