Brutal ref's in the first game! Greece has been playing with 10 since the 40 min mark, on some of the worst calls ever! Poland is diving almost as bad as the Van. Canucks.... Just brutal!
Greece did manage to tie it up, even though short a guy!
Go Hellas Go!

i'm hoping some of the racial stuff that happened earlier in the week doesn't happen again though.

KNVB!!! HUP HOLLAND!!
and ya, that refereeing in the first match was pretty weak, hopefully it shapes up tho, its tough for the ref too, especially refereeing the first match with the host country.
entertaining fast game tho.

I'll second the bad refs motion. That Greek defender did nothing that would warrant a yellow card (or even a free kick) from me. I would have given the polish striker a card for his tantrum afterwards however

I back Germany every World Cup and Euro. I'm pleased so far, though I have a feeling that Spain is the team to beat this time 'round. The Italians certainly ain't what they're supposed to be, and the French just pi55 me off no matter which tournament we're talking about.

EEExcellent.
Germany won both their group stage games so far, beat portugal and today they showed the dutch how to play modern strategic soccer as a team.
they are leading their group so far, on sunday they will beat denmark for a total of 9 points, first in group B and then go to on the quarterfinals!

Id say bad refs in the Ireland Spain game, even though Spain destroyed them!
Hope to see my team win tomorrow, GO ENGLAND.

Lol @ The announcers "The Irish fans are rubbing their faces in disbelief". What were they expecting? They barely made it through qualifying and were playing the reigning champions, How high could their hopes of been? I thought Ireland played well all things considered. With Italys draw and Denmarks loss, Hopefully I will have $1800 in my pocket come Sunday night.

I can't watch soccer. Have no respect for the players at all. I don't need to see another player touched lightly by an opponent drop to the ground and writhe in fake pain with his hands over his face, as if he had been hit with a tire iron. IMHO that's why the game hasn't taken off on this continent. We like our male athletes to act like men. Do they even sell jock straps in Europe? Why?
And I used to play the game when I was young. Don't ever recall seeing a dive.

Right on Oko: Some people call it poof ball.
They are not even televising the soccer hooligan fights. Thats the best part of world cup soccer.
There was a really good brawl a couple days ago between Polish and Russian soccer hooligans and all there was were a couple of media clips.

That was more political then soccer based. "Russia ***** Russia *****, Smash her with a Hammer, Smash her with a sickle" was the Polish chant, Seems like they are not quite over having to live in squalid 3rd world conditions at the hands of the Communists for all those years.

Perfect, leave that to the other 6.5 BILLION people in the world outside of N. America. To each his own.
Diving is and always has been part of the game and while it still happens all the time, the refereeing has by and large brought it way down.
Never been a huge footy fan either, but I've got a vested interest this year as I randomly pulled Russia in our pool over here and dropped 1,000 dinars (that only works out to about 13 bucks BTW) with the chance to win 16,000.
It's also a lot of fun to drink a beer and watch the games every night with co-workers from pretty much every nation involved...the banter is priceless!
As for the hooligan fights...check out Al Jazeera English or BBC and you'll see a lot more than what the close-minded N. American force fed BS media will ever show.

I have waited many years to see Denmark v Germany at a major tournament. I have to ref a game half way across town at exactly the same time. Thank God for PVRs!

Well, that's Russia done...and boy did I ever hear it from the one and only Greek that works on the base. Hope he wins and puts that 16k DZD toward the next upcoming bailout.
Next round will be interesting for sure!

Absolutely!
Beautiful game when played well.
Damn shame that diving is such a part of the sport. As a parent I did not capitulate to my children's poor behaviour when they were very young (or today), yet the Eurotrash seem to reward/embrace such actions.
Pathetic. No wonder their economies are in the chitter if that is what is considered 'honorable'.......

Wow! Where did the Italians come from? They have managed to crack the Berlin wall that is the German defense.
