In a sign of sheer madness, I decided to upgrade my Gen 1 units to Gen 2 units. Not a lot of difference between the two, except for StructureMap. The Gen 2s have a faster processor. But unless you toggle through pages repeatedly while fishing, that's sort of a moot point. I played with them side by side on my boat for a bit this weekend...not much difference. You can read the hype on Lowrance's site
and decide for yourself. Gen 1 units have been pulled from the shelves and are no longer available.
My math on these is pretty simple. I'm paying $2,000 to upgrade two HDS-10's and an HDS-8, split between $700 for each HDS-10 and $600 for each HDS-8.
I paid $2,309.95 tax in for my Gen 2 HDS-10s. I'll sell my Gen 1 HDS-10s for $1,600 each.
I paid $1,784.95 tax in for my Gen 2 HDS-8. I'll sell my Gen 1 HDS-8 for $1,150.
Of course with all of the HDS units, StructureScan
is a huge feature. Assuming someone wants to buy a LSS-1 StructureScan setup to go with their HDS unit, I will provide a receipt from one of my Gen 2 units so that they can get the $300 rebate from Lowrance. Retail on StructureScan is $649.95. You can get it for $350 with the rebate if you buy the LSS-1 from gpscity.ca in Calgary.
These units are off my 2008 Warrior V-2121. The boat has never spent a single night outdoors since I've owned it. The units are like new. You will get an HDS unit of your choice with the latest HDS 4.1 software update installed and the units reset to function as new when powered up the first time. All of the packaging is brand new as I used the old gimbals and screen covers, giving the buyers everything brand new. Unless you're dieing to have StructureMap (I spend hours mapping with Dr. Depth currently which is why I bit the bullet), this is a rare opportunity to score an HDS unit cheap. The Fishin' Hole in Saskatoon sold their board models with only the mounting bracket and power cable (no box, transducer, manuals, etc.) for $1,800 and $1,400 + GST last week.
