Default DIY Prince Rupert fishing trip

I just got back from our second annual Prince Rupert fishing trip. We pulled our own boat out to the coast and stayed at a motel right in town. We were there for a week and had our fishing cut short a few days, due to weather.

When we were able to get out on the water, we found no shortage of salmon. One afternoon we caught nothing but "springs", but mostly we were into coho and pinks.

I want to give a big thanks to Jamie from "Great Pacific" who we met at the Petro Canada, when we were fueling up. He took time to give us some tackle advice and show us some good locations on our charts. I suggest if you are heading out that way, to give him a call. He'll know what is biting and where.

I would like to caution anyone heading out with their own boat. Be sure to check the tide charts because on a low tide the Prince Rupert boat launch is not usable. We spent 3 hours one morning waiting to get the boat in the water.

Can't wait to get back there again......

Sea hawk, it was a plesure meeting both you and your wife. I hope the hints helped. Looking forward to perhaps seeing you both next year.

Fishn. Glad to hear you are on your way out. The fishing has slowed a bit. We are down to 40 fish to the boat/day. Lolololol.
Please feel free to get in touch if we can be of any help.

Jamie
