Default Of Wabamun, Alberta Bigbore, Geezle and The Eagles

I picked up a new fish finder Friday (Lowrance HDS 7 with Structure Scan) and was anxious to test it out.

So hit up Wabamun yesterday by meeting Alberta Bigbore (Mike) at the Seba Beach launch at 530 am. We fished hard and covered Fallis Point and the Sundance plant area, with very little success. I caught 2 smaller pike and that was it other than a follow or two. The one highlight was the pike hitting my lure as it floated in the water beside the boat. Added some excitement to a rather slow morning. Geezle met us around 1030ish at the Sundance plant. Fished there for a bit then I had to run Mike back to Seba as he had to go to a family function later in the afternoon. Not all was lost though, Mike's better half did send out a dessert for me which is absolutely delicious. If Melissa keeps sending those along with Mike, I may tolerate him in my boat more often!

Went back out to meet Geezle. we fished hard but success was slow. We then went to the south end of the lake along the reeds in 6 feet of water. I caught my first decent pike, a 7.2 lber. Sorry for no decent pics as I was in the boat by myself so all I got are in water shots.

Next fish up to bat was this girl, a healthy 11.2 lber (Geezle has a better pic I am sure of this one)

With these two fish, not only was I using the same lure, but I was listening to the same song on my Ipod as I am learning to play Lyin Eyes by The Eagles on guitar and had the song playing to try and absorb the tempo.

All in all, not a bad day on the lake as spent it with 2 decent guys fishing. Always lots of laughs and good natured ribbing when out on the lake.

PS: If anyone has some ideas on how to get good fish pics when fishing by onesself, please let me know via PM. I do not like keeping the fish out of the water for very long, especially on hot days so has to be something quick.

Talking

ya... This weekend sucked some serious nads for me. LoL

A deer wrote off my Nissan saturday morning, like wtf.

Skunked on wabby with a couple hits on the tail of some big BullDawg lures, one follow.

Lost my sunglasses that go onto my prescription glasses, by a magnet on the bridge.

Then had sit and listen to all the blah blah blah at the big family BBQ. Lol

the fishing was still fun anyways, and Jonzy always likes my GF dessert creations and since he's single she feels the need to make sure he has food to keep his calorie intake up. Pineapple Delight pies should be illegal they are soooo good.

Always a good time

Sorry John...I did get a couple decent pics of you with that big one, but the cam is locked in the Jeep, and I'm too lazy to run out and grab it right now I'll post 'em up tonight though

You still hitting Wab up again today? I think I may head out again for a slightly shorter day...not entirely sure what I've got going on yet tonight.

As for taking pics of the fish yourself, what about mounting one of those mini tripods on the dash of your boat (or somewhere on the boat that's somewhat safe) and then you can just hit the timer and get a shot of yourself with the fish?

Okay...here's the delayed update. First the pics of John's fish from Sunday.

I ended up having nothing to do on Monday, so I headed back and (sorta) met up with John out at Wab again. I had to kinda stick to the South end of the lake as I thought I may have to take off on short notice, though I ended up staying til around 6 anyway. We were both fishing the same general area, but were off kinda doing our own things...I'm not entirely sure how John did, but he left around 2pm I think...the sun was getting to be a little much.

Pity, because after that the fishing really picked up, and it wasn't nearly as painful as Sunday was. No monsters, but enough of the little guys to keep me entertained once again

Oh, and can't forget the Byrds
