Does anybody have any hints on which province or territory is most likely to award applicants with a trapline. I was wondering what it's like in NWT cause that's a massive stetch of land and population not too high so perhaps they have many available traplines which they would give to applicant in less time, less paperwork, less headache, than in Alberta?

I've seen some for sale in the Yukon for $25,000 and I'm sure if you went up there with cash in hand you could buy one from a local for even cheaper. Not sure about NWT but I'm sure it's not to far off. That being said lots of areas up there are going to be largely ineccesable. My best suggestion would be to look around for a good deal in northern Alberta and just pay the going rate. Still some pretty good deals around if you look.
nb and ns have no traplines all crown land is first come first to trap it makes for some interesting seasons.
Interesting. Does it get overrun there with trappers during the season? Since it's crown land, I don't suppose one could build a cabin, right? Do trappers come with their own portable tent and gear?
cabin,you dont need to be a trapper to have a cabin in NB,very easy to get cabin there,can get nice one for around 10 000,my father has a cabin there since i can remember,and im 41,its on a lake lot,and there is 10 other cabins around the lake,lots of people use them for camping and relaxing,hunting ,fishing whatever you feel like doing,this is retard out here to get a cabin.the woods is big enough they should let people built some cabin not just for trapping

Good luck on an NWT trapline. Unless you have aboriginal heritage or a general hunting license issues to those who have lived there from 40's they are tough to get. I got a recreational license back in the day with the support of the Fort Providence Band…but only because I married into a local family.
Me and my trapping partner have a trapline in BC. There are definitely traplines to be had in BC, especially coming up. Soon, the government will be auctioning off traplines that have laid dormant for too long. On average look to pay about 20 thousand. We recently paid 16 for a 210 square km line way up in the Selkirks.
Another thing you can think about when you are considering a trapline, is access. Getting to a trapline that is days of driving away.. Don't you think that would get old fast? Just another thing to think about. Some people don't mind travelling as much as others.

That one sold years ago. Now they are 70000 plus and barely any to be had. I lease one but most are tied up with FN BS.
