Default Red Deer getting new indoor range (shooting center)

Quote:
As of this morning (July 3, 2012) The Red Deer Shooting Centre has been APPROVED! After a unanimous vote in favor by all of the Red Deer County Councilors, led by Mayor Jim Wood, we have received an approval for our development permit!

Range Equipment and Design

RDSC’s state of the art facility will surely impress even the most advanced shooter, featuring 2 ranges; Alpha (25yd) and Bravo (50yd) both ranges were designed to meet or exceed US Military and Gov’t Agency specifications in health, safety and performance.

Starting at the firing line, RDSC’s custom shooting booths’ will feature full ballistics protection, training barricades and digital LED displays. The target carrier systems are government grade; the Canadian made Mancom systems (which are more commonly found in military and law enforcement facilities throughout North America) are the pinnacle of our industry. Mancom systems offer a more robust and durable design, better electronics and overall more function and reliability.

Moving downrange, RDSC’s backstop design is a fully engineered granulated rubber berm system that will offer our shooters a multitude of features and benefits. There are no limitations on small arms calibers up to 50 BMG as well as types of ammunition being used, including steel core. Additionally, due to the design of our backstop systems our shooters can enjoy peace of mind knowing they’re shooting in a zero lead dust and zero ricochet environment.

Health and safety has always been a top priority in the design of our range. In addition to the health benefits of our backstop design, both Alpha and Bravo ranges will be running industry leading HVAC control systems. These systems control the air flow and volume of fresh air with absolute performance and efficiency. Any airborne contaminates are instantly moved away from the shooter and downrange to an exhaust duct, there can be no compromise on air quality inside the range, health is number one.

In terms of actual range construction, another important design feature to note is our interior range dimensions. Our range walls will be formed to a 12 foot overall height, from there our baffles will take up an additional 2 feet leaving the end result an impressive 10 foot in-range wall height. Moving forward we took this concept a step further; each of our 12 shooting positions will feature a 4 foot wide stall, giving the shooter maximum comfort. Why are these dimensional features so important? It is our opinion that the more room offered inside the range for shooters, the higher level of comfort and in turn a lower level of anxiety, especially for new shooters.

Our overall vision for RDSC was to create a professional environment that offers our clients the very best in today’s range technology. When it comes to range equipment and design, RDSC has spared no expense; we believe our range will rank among North America’s best.

Good to see another range opening and not one closing.

Default half way there

It would make more sense to have one area with several underground benched 100 yard targets for rifle with proper ventilation and electric target return.Just my 2 cents..........Harold
