When is everyone starting? I am thinking about the 1st week of November for canines and whenever the ice is thick enough for beaver. I usually don't start on canines until the end of November.
I don't start myself until at least the last week of November. I wait until most of the hunters are out of the bush so I do not run into any issues. Plus I don't want to trap anything that is not prime yet.
That does not mean I'm not doing trapping work. This week I have been making and boiling snares. Gonna build a 330 box tonight. I have got my lures and bait ready as well as my conibears. I need to modify my rat traps and I will be ready to roll.
Doing some nuisance beaver removal now, around the house. all my stuff is out on the line ready to go. head out around nov 11. depending on the weather i'll start setting shortly there after. good luck everyone and have a safe/successful season.
On the morning of November 1st look for a dust plume heading into the Kakwa river. That's me heading down to get my marten sets out. They're prime and just waiting for me.
I'm just about ready right now, but I'm going to wait until the middle of November before hitting the marten. Probably around the 15th. This weekend though, I have some beaver beside my cabin that need to be taken care of... so my setting tool will get a little work right away.

X2 except we are plannin on goin in for a few days next weekend, not this one. Put a floor in the line cabin and hopefully work on the beaver population in pond close to cabin.
Next week, head in to line cabin, hope to get couple of beaver for bait and check out areas of our trapline we never seen yet. Take in a bunch of marten boxs, and mount them. Always fun looking at maps and planning a trip into new area, and there is always that small lake on the map I wanted to check out, see if the Argo is water tight.....

argo might be water tight, but is it fast enough to in water to catch the blue one?
I wish I would have had that last December when my quad went through the ice leaving just the handlebars sticking out and me very glad it was on the plus side of 0!
Doing a little bit of ADC beaver work now, some the hides are nice and white already but most are still a little blue. They need a little longer yet. I'll get going for everything else around Dec 1.
