Default Killer trout at Bass-Pro

Last weekend my boys were playing near the pond in the store which obviously annoyed one of the staff. He went on to tell us that a week prior some kid fell into the pond and cracked his head requiring first aid, 2 arctic sleeping bags to warm him up and an ambulance_blood everywhere. Then he pointed to a Brookie which he called a Brown trout and claimed they inflict serious bite wounds and could really mess up a kid. He said there's a "Burbock" in there that darned near bit off his finger when he was feeding the fish. Gosh, Bass pro is really risking it all by having these vicious fishes in the building. Be careful out there people, "think of the children."

Haha that's great.!! .... I believe it!! Every time I go there this mean sturgeon grits his teeth at me.... Just look down and walk away fast! They really should put a cover on that thing cause those "burbock" are mean as they look!

I haven't been there in a while, are you saying a kid fell in that giant trout tank? or is there another pond there?

Not The tank, the pond in front-ish.

I thought that sturgeon was giving me the stink eye last time. Kinda creeped the kids out.

The bigger issue is the walleye; the've been known to try and javelin an unsuspecting humaniod now and then.

Shoot, I am going to go start a poll on Pickerel Defense.
What would you use: frying pan, tinfoil and BBQ or toaster oven?

that doesnt suprize me for some reason because the last few times i went there i see a bunch of little kids leaning over the edge of the pond by the bridge and are petting the fish. this all started with one of the staff that was feeding the fish and was showing how close the fish come to eating out of his hand.meh i am sure they have insurance. hahahaha

I have it on good authority that BP have been cross breeding their trout with pirahnna's and the sturgeon with great white sharks.

Be warned, these fish have a mean attitude, which can easily be transmitted to store employees.

Did they always have a pond there? I only recall a tank when I went.
And if I'm assuming correct they have a live geon in the Pond??!

There's a pond at the front, with a model fisherman in it. There's a bridge to walk across it.

Give the guy a bit of a break, I bet kids cause havoc every day for them so he's kept his calm even though he probably wants to scream at all the kids trying to climb over everything

Out of control kids in the store falling into the pond. Sounds like a normal day at BP.

Every kid entering the store should be issued one of those electric dog training collars, to be activated at the discretion of the staff.

The thread started out as a light dig about a bull****ting clerk , as usual it gets misinterpreted. My boys were just being boys, they spend a lot of time in the mountains and were not out of control by a long shot. Do your kids a favour, don't have any.

A sign over the front door at Basspro welcomes "hunters anglers and other liars". Others might be staff who knows. The post was supposed to illustrate a funny little occurrance but as usual on the net some folks misinterpret and take it off track whilst projecting some of their own selves. To those who thought this was about out of control children, if you haven't had any yet do them a big favour. Don't have them.

The funniest thing of it all is it was 5 days since your last post on this thread. And you're still yammering about the same bulls**t. Get real, the shot wasnt about you, it was pointed at the sloughs of people in that store, it seems to always have a bunch of little un-supervised children running about.

"Dont have them", you sound like one. Grow up, move on.

Would be better if all STAFF were issued collars to be activated at the kids discretion ! Would keep them away from the trout and occupied while I shopped !

He was telling the truth and there is a burbot in the pond. Who knows why he called it a burbock. I have seen it only once and it was under the wooden object in the water. I think it is always hiding under that thing.

Children under 12 shouldnt be allowed in public. This generation of trophy parents thinking their kids can get away with anything is rediculous.

Maybe he even said Burbot... No that seems far fetched.

Bass pro by Calgary?.. I went there an was so excited to see the fish in the big tank..... Disgusted, by far the stupidest most unethical show of sportsmanship I have ever seen! I couldn't believe my eyes. I'm 22, still haven't seen much to some... But all the fish are sick, every one. I said to the sir, "hey seriously, wtf is this." Pointing at the fish tank. He was dumbfounded with shock from the disgusted look apon my face. This was a month ago, I'm still ****ed. 15 lbs Rainbows, 4lbs Brookies, the browns, all the fish, the walleye, the whites, ugh.. All droopy and stunted over fed, waste! They should have been replaced with proportionately sized fish. The bigger ones released into children's trout ponds and such. There's absolutely no thought process involved in our government on the matters that matter. It's upsetting knowing one day, I'll leave Ab. Just so I can fish.
