Default Looks like ill stick around

So I guess I'll be in the archery forums a lot more. Thanks to Mike W I now have a new to me bow. 2009 Martin Firecat. Think I need to work on some specific muscle groups though to get the full 70# pull out of it. As I found out the hard way, I'm going to have to work on my form though as my forearm has quite the welt. Double jointed elbows certainly don't help. Hit the target at least from the first few shots. Looking forward to next years season already!

Adjust it down to 60lbs till you get used to it...no sense in hurting yourself!

Most bows have about a 10lbs swing that you can back the limbs off safely to....but you need a scale to keep checking till you hit the right weight.

Gots one in the garage already and we'll make it so the kids aren't climbing all over you next time.

Default Excercise

One arm rows & chin ups will help your conditioning. If it doesn't consider lighter weight. You should be able to draw and let down ridiculously slow IMO

I got my bow about a month ago. Just tonight I went to the range and was there from 4:30-9. I had probably 500 shots just trying to set up the sights a little better. Of course, I'm a pipefitter so pulling pipe wrenches all day helps.

Welcome to the addiction.

Big mistake , buying a bow and getting into archery .. You'll get hooked like the rest of us and spend all your extra cash on accessories .. LOL.. Started bowhunting 26 years ago and must say I enjoy it much more than the rifle .. Frustrating at times but very rewarding .. Hope you stay with it .
