Spotted horse/rock island

I'm headed to rock island on sat with the snowmobiles and I was wondering if any one has been out this winter. Has anyone one caught perch in that lake. I'm suspecting they're in 30 fow because of the high walleye #'s. I am also thinking about sledding into spotted horse on Sunday. It's 22 km in so I wanna speak with someone who's been there in the last few years. Went in 2 weeks ago and did terrible but my flasher wasn't working so I have no idea if there where fish just not biting. Wanna know if it's just me. Pm if you'd rather. Thanks in advance.

I was up at Rock Island a few weeks ago. Fishing was slow but managed a couple eyes over 50cm - fished two days. Lots of snow on the lake - sled only. Didn't see any perch - we were fishing in 18 fow. However, when we fished it in mid-Aug, we caught a couple small perch (6-8 inchers)- even then we found them in 28 fow. I have found that lake in the past few years to be real hit and miss ever since opening it up to one fish over 50. Anyway - good luck.

Also - what are you targeting in Spotted Horse as I have never fished it.

Spotted Horse is not 22 KM in. It would be less than a couple of miles from the west or maybe 5 miles from the Lawrence Lake Dump on cutlines. If you are up around Rock Island maybe there is a Drowned Horse Lake? There is a Drowned Horse Creek. Maybe there are 2 Spotted Horse Lakes????

No Fish in Spotted Horse that I'm aware of. Could try Banana to the south. Deep Lake west of Otter has lots of medium sized pike.
