Default highwood river?

So im staying at a relatives place near the highwood river and i was wondering if it would be worth my while to do some fishing tomorow. I dont even know if its open im still researching. I have both spinning and fly gear ranging from small spinners and nymphs to large spoons and streamers.

Highwood is a great river.

Unfortunately it's closed until June 16

The bow is open down there and 500m up the highwood from where it enters the bow.

One of the places where I get news on what is happening with the bow is from FFC http://flyfishcalgary.com/board/index.php?showforum=9

Look at the first pinned post.

I believe the best access around there is via Nature's Hideaway campground or nearby.

I like swinging streamers myself, but admittedly it's usually not as productive as nymphing, this time of year especially.I usually fish 2 streamers at a time on a sinktip, with a larger(4-5") conehead zuddler,Clouser,Carrie Stevens, bucktail or wutever as the main fly,and then a bugger, leach,Micky Finn,or some other small, unweighted streamer trailing 3' behind, tied off from the bend of my main point fly.

That said,I broke down and did some indi-nymphing this week (imho an ugly way to "flyfish" )and did pretty good on lil black winter stones(16-18).If you decide to walk down Highwood to Bow from Natures Hideaway, take notice of lots of lil winter stones crawling on the ice as the day warms up.
Also seeing the odd Skwala stone below Police so a golden or brown stone nymph (8-10) with a lil winter dropper is probly a pretty good combo.
