All that was on the poster. That ain`t sex ED,that`s a manual.SOB should lose his job forever.

You say you aren't playing semantics, but your whole argument is semantics. Your rights, freedoms and opinions supercede nobodies, so all are equal before the law. Homosexual's rights are not overruled by yours.
You believe they are deviants and you may tolerate, the law doesn't .
The law does not tolerate the disabled, tolerate women or tolerate any ethnic group. The law does not tolerate religious beliefs either. The same applies to homosexuals.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^ This is all made up. I uphold everyones rights. Deviance from social norms is not something I made up. Normal can't be legislated. What I believe? Hate the sin, love the sinner.

Exactly my argument as well.
Its a good thing to let kids know where babies come from and to educate them about disease and contraception but its another thing to turn the classroom into porn-college.

But social norms change fast and change drastically too. What percentage of the country has to believe it is normal, before it is. Cause I think we are almost there. And many will argue we are now.

The education system has no business promoting "sexual norms" to our kids ...

STOP over-reaching your purpose, and leave the rest to the family / community ...
TBD
PS ... this is so frustrating for me about the education system, spreading into areas they have no business and forgetting (becoming worse at the 3 R's) what they were intended for in the first place.
PSS ... If we must have SEX ED stick to contraceptives and STD's please
PSSS ... remember ? this was the argument for having SEX ED at the beginning, now we have these "progressives" wanting to expand into the art of Oral SEX - OMG don't you see the Hypocrisy !
PSSSS ... no wonder we have more and more families home schooling or seeking more traditional chartered institutes - thank you Ralph ! ( now if we could only divert all our contributions in education taxes to the schools we support - this would be the accountability piece still missing )

Don't know if your comments were directed to riden personally or all teachers but please remember that this story is about the Toronto public board which has a long history of being activist and pushing alternative agendas.
In Alberta sex ed is restricted primarily to your PSS. I don't think any of the educators here have defended the poster or the "instructions" it contained as being appropriate for a school setting.
As for your PSSSS -- even private schools and home schoolers are supposed to be toeing the line of the provincial curriculum. The government does nominally and legally control what can be taught -- even if they don't have much enforcement of it.
Case in point...

How could my comments be directed to Riden personally - DON'T KNOW her !
Nice DIVERSION ...
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Come next election I think Redford's going to answer for alot of things she's done ( if she survives her parties leadership review ).
But hey - who cares ! She's got the 12 billion lawsuit for former hubby and more laws on the books for her friends ....
You call these "laws of the LAND" - I call them NON-sense (when did they have the referendum ? ) !
The point is Sjemac, educators have enough MORE important stuff to focus on besides this CRAP ....
TBD
PS ... and now we have progressives fiddling with the SEX Ed curriculum while ROME burns !
PSS ... can't wait for PISA 2015

I can't believe anyone could support this poster in a school. We had sex Ed in school which was basic. Now kids are needing this to learn? Going on the trend of this way of learning, our grand kids will be taught proper posture while standing on a street corner for grade 3 recess.
To me this is borderline child porn.

That's why I asked. They seemed like they were directed at HIM.

When did you actually believe that you live in a real democracy? You never have and likely never will. I doubt that Redford's successor will change anything regarding education. None of the predecessors had much effect.

I agree. But the the entire gamut of sex ed "CRAP" makes up about 2 hours out of 1000 instructional hours each year or about .2% of their education. Again, I am talking Alberta which does not go into the subject matter Ontario does.
On the other hand, I have a duty to make sure that all the students in the school are safe and have the same opportunity to learn without being bullied for their differences -- whether it be physical, racial, religious or sexual preference. That does require some education on tolerating different lifestyles for a lot of kids and can be done in an appropriate, non-pornographic manner.

In Toronto, yes. Status quo here.

Neither can I. I suspect we will once again place near the top in the world. We have a lot of excellent teachers in this province who continue to do well IN SPITE OF the dorks that get elected.

Uh, because you quoted her and referred to her directly with terms like "you" and "your". Perhaps his mistake was to take what you wrote seriously.

Doesn't say.
Anyway. When even the AIDs awareness group that makes the poster says it was inappropriate for schools -- then it is.
The poster was intended to be posted in gay bars and bath houses -- not middle school classrooms.

And yes he sounds like he was more of a "buddy" to the kids than a teacher.
