Paying it Forward
As some of you may know through the pics I have posted over the last couple years, I have been extremely fortunate to have been able to harvest a good number of animals, and those I have harvested have been of some good size.
I was made aware of a gentleman through a post he made on Facebook as a reply to one of mine.
His name is Keith, and as I posted back and forth found that he was an ex Islander that grew up near Port Alberni
He grew up hunting and fishing all of his life until his parents passed and he decided to move out here about six years ago to Alberta where he has family.
Keith is on a disability pensions which most of you know is lacking in many ways and I asked him a few weeks ago if he would like to share in my good fortunes. His reply was to say the least,....ecstatic.
I got to meet Keith today in a small, poorly kept up rental house in a run down area of town called "the flats", which he was proud to call home.
I brought him a mixture of Mule Deer, Whitetail, Elk, and Goose in steaks, ground, stew and sausages, and trout and pike that were taking up room in the freezer.Being a stand on his own proud kind of guy, not asking for any handouts, he gratefully accepted my gift of some much needed supplies.
We sat and visited for a while and swapped stories and lies of hunts and fishing trips of days gone by in areas that we both remembered well from the Left Coast Rock.
I met and made a new friend today and hope to continue the relationship in the years to come.
I have also helped two more families this winter with meat donations to help feed some very young kids where there may not have been a chance for that nutrition.
Makes me feel good at least.....
Please be mindful that not everyone in this great prosperous country that we live in can afford the same things that the rest of us take for granted.
If you can................. ......... Pay it Forward

Good on ya blacktail
I know some won't believe it, but the feeling of giving to someone who is truly needing is on par with the actual moment of a successful hunt itself I think. The occasional good deed will take us all a long way in this life.

Nice thing to do.....I gave away a bunch of meat to forum members via a "free meat" thread a couple years back and they were quite grateful.

I too gave a family deer roasts a turkey and a family pack of beef roasts gravy mix and stuffing before Xmas. It's tough to see a mother live in a house that doors don't close properly and the wind and snow is comming in.she does live on a reserve. The funny thing is that the band apparently will not help her with repairs. Yet others seem to be getting food cash etc.

A portion of my yearly kill goes to a couple of older people in town who helped me out some when I was younger
They can 't get out much these days but sure appreciate the meat!

I also donate a whole deer every year(not this year though I struck out) to an elderly lady who is stuck raising her grandchildren. She cuts up what she needs and uses the rest to feed the dogs.

Last Saturday 12 people I used to worked plus me and my wife supplied and cooked a meal for all 32 families at the Edmonton Ronald macdonald house. They guys did this instead of having a team Christmas party and invited me to share in the good will. We made prime rib, fish and lasagna, and several salids and stuff. It was a huge task as over 60 people sat down to a meal. It was tough as well cause you knew everyone there was fighting a battle we just didn't know any details. We also brought in a face painter to give the kids a chance to be kids. There was several tears shed that night as you saw the smiles and the looks we got as we shared the meal and gave the families a chance to rest, be it ever so short a time. I left that house a better person and I'm thankful I was asked to join in. With my old team.

I am in the residential construction business and I have worked for some real *****holes. Over the past few years of dealing with theses types of people I started to question if there were any decent people left. Then I find this post.
GOOD WORK GUYS!!!!
