Hilton is nice, and convenient.

Thanks. I was checking that out.

Seems pricey. How is the beach area? Looks marginal off google earth. Can you fish from shore? Is the beach area good for swimming and boogie boarding in th summer months?

Default Swimming

They have a natural ocean beach in the resort, you can swim in and snorkel. Fishing is nice to the north, rent a car and you can cruise around a lot. There's boarding lessons on the resort and yes the resort is pricey compared to an all inclusive...

Outrigger fairway villas at waikoloa beach. Condo type. Close to A-bay which is ice and calm, good for snorkelling. Also short drives from many other fantastic beaches for fishing and snorkelling and family fun including 10 min to Hapuna beach which has been voted one of the best beaches in The world. Waikoloa beach is only 20 min north of the city of Kona.

You looking at kona or hilo? Vacation rentals either way!
I love Hilo side. Check out Kapoho.
It's not for everyone and depends on what your looking for. If you want to lay on a beach in the sun go to Kona. If you want markets with great music and food, waterfalls, snorkeling, tide pools, hot ponds, jungle with orange, banana, coconut, mango fruit hanging in the side of the road go to kapoho. You need to be willing to explore a bit. But it's awsome.
Pm me if you want more info.

Hilo = rain forest! rain and rougher water.
Kona = sun! lava fields and little wind! very little rain.

Keep in mind, kona and Hilo are like a 1.5 to 2 hour drive from each other.
