Enjoy your gun. Find an accomplished shooter to mentor you.
Chose carefully. After serving as range officer for many years, I've seen some idiots out there that have owned guns for years and still endangered themselves and others every time they picked one up.
Thanks again for all the info! You've all been a big help with your tips and advice, I will probably hit a few of you up once I am in Edmonton this summer.
As other have mentioned, there is no better tool than a .22 rimfire to hone your shooting skills, especially off hand silhouette style. I've recently added a Gamo .177 Wildcat air rifle to my gunsafe to further that even more. $6.00 or less for 500 pellets, and there is no shortage.
Practise is certainly a factor in developing shooting skills, but practising bad habits can do more harm than good. Above all, practise safely, and try and find a suitable mentor.
