Default Winter Olympics on TV?

Can anyone suggest what the minimum shaw package I would need to watch the Olympics would be? I don't currently have cable but I want to get it for the month the Olympics is on so what channels do I need?

Or can I watch it online?
Thanks

CBC...Channel 6....Basic cable

Also, you may have to have a digital box to get that basic cable though

Basic cable will get you all the Canadian and US channels that will be showing the Olympics. CBC, NBC, TSN

thanks guys.

and fishstix, i will call shaw, obviously.. but seeing as i haven't had TV for the last 7 years i have no idea what i need, and they have a vested interest in selling me more than i need. hence why asking for help here.

EDIT, called shaw, the most basic package is $40 a month with no offers or deals despite being a customer of their high end internet package for 7 years.

is there such a thing as free TV anymore, like we used to get with the rabbit ears? if i get a shaw box can i get any channels without paying?

i googled and my TV has a built in digital tuner. does that mean with some sort of antenna i can get some channels?
its a good TV, flat screen but I've only ever used it for DVD's.

Yep you can still get good old peasant vision with an antennae. Except it is in HD now and better quality then you get with satellite or cable because it isn't compressed. It's not like the old fiddling with the rabbit ears and putting tin foil on them to get better reception though, being digital it is either all or nothing.
You can check which channels you are likely to get by using the TV Fool site.
I made my own antennae because I was too cheap to buy one for $50. I used these instructions as a guideline and I can get all the channels I'm supposed to.
Between the free local channels and torrents and sites like FirstRow Sports we don't miss cable/satellite at all.. well besides the days of FTA satellite receivers.

ok, thanks for that. that link shows about 10 channels, most of which were just the coded names, but it did say CBC. so that might be all i need for the olympics.

As much fun as it would be to make an eyesoar of an antenna it is like 9 bucks at the source.

So I got a $20 antenna from Canadian tire. It has rabbit ears and a loop antenna.
Doing the auto scan with the antenna just inside next to my tv I got 6 channels with great picture. Even with the rabbit ears folded right away.
I get global, city tv, CBC, cts, omni and ctv.
Am I missing any? Is it worth playing around with its position to get more channels or is that about it?
Thanks
