It's a Friday night and I'm sitting here feeding the woodstove waiting for spring and
got to thinking.
Colors.
One of things I've noticed that others have noticed is that the color red seems harder to
see than most any other color.
Like in say pin sights for instance and I agree.
Soo, why are most targets using red or flour. orange for the bullseye ?
I noticed the other day at work someone chose to use a red background with a black font
to indecate required fields when updating a table.
Red background let me know it's required but was a strain to see the letters/numbers in a
black font.
Same kind of thing going on here I thought.
A while ago a couple friends came down to visit and we all did some target shooting
in the back yard. Mitch was sighting in a new air rifle at 25 yards and could not get
consistant groups, this was off a table rest as well with a 4 power scope.
I tried to group some myself and had no better results.
The target was a 2'x4' piece of 1/2 plywood with a flor. orange 1" dia. stick on target dot.
I said to Mitch, "when I shoot with my bow I do much better with a white on black bullseye
or some other color combo rather than red or bright orange.
We put up a white paper stick on dot on the brown plywood background and it made a big
difference for both of us.
Something to think about.
