Picked up an easy beaver tonight. He ran out of food I guess and chewed a hole through the ice. Stuck a 330 in front of it.

My first winter coyote hunting and trapping is in the books. The bulk of them are done and ready for the NAFA truck on Monday. Ended up with 32, about 20 snared and the rest shot. I have a few more drying but the rest will have to go to the fall auction with whatever i can catch for muskrats this spring.
Couldn't have done it without my jrs. They provided the company and entertainment while i fumbled my way through skinning and stretching this winter.

Thanks everyone, I've been getting a lot of good tips from this and other message boards so thanks to everyone that takes time to share their knowledge here.
I'm hoping to get an earlier start next year and ramp things up a bit. Fingers crossed that prices stay good but ether way it sure beats sitting on my thumbs all winter waiting for sheds to drop.

Nice nube! You sure have put up a good pile of fur considering you're just getting back into it this year. I'll be pretty happy if I can grab 50 or 60 total rats this spring.

You can do it. There are more of them out there thn you would think. I got one lake this year that I hope to get 150-200 out of that I got permission on. There must be 60+ houses I counted one day

Your setup looks close to what I got lol Nice! Hope you get a pile of them
I am headed out in the next few days as well with this weather. Got one lake with 60+ houses to hit this week and see if I can pull out 150+ rats. Got 80 traps ready to rock and she will be an all day thing just running circles catching and setting. Might as well take a hot dog or 2 and make it an all day affair

Here's my big batch of coyotes (lol) ready to go to the depot. I'd be happy with making enough money to pay for my NAFA, ATA and Wild Fur Council memberships. I kept a couple of coyotes to tan and make a hat and mitts out of, that should be fun. I'm a first year trapper so this year was a learning experience and a period to find out what I needed and to acquire everything. I learned a lot this winter and my fur handling got progressively better with each coyote that I processed.
I'm getting ready for muskrats in the Spring and I've been busy making colony and tunnel traps. I'm already looking forward to next season when I'll be trapping full time.
I got a real nice light coloured coyote on the right but unfortunately I lost the tip of his tail.

Good stuff Dave!!!! Those are some dark colours on a few of them. Make sure you comb them out good and snap the hide to fluff out the fur before you take them in. They look good and with decent prices you should make a few bucks on those. Congrats

Nice.....Thanks for sharing.
You're gonna have to call those strips of softwood the "Braggin' Boards"......and rightfully so.

That's awesome Braggadoe! I just made 6 more funnel traps today and I was wondering if you found any more fresh scars that may have been made by your trap. I don't see any tape on there. I'm hoping to get mine wet next week.
