All I want is a decent toaster
I don't have any idea how many toasters that I have owned in the last 10 years. Not one of them is worth a hoot. You finally think you have a good one and 3 months later it burns one side and leaves the other untouched. Has anybody had any luck with a good toaster? The only option I care about is that it will toast bagels. I just want a freakin toaster!

Philips toasters are durable and the features work. Great shading control.

Third one since 96 ,new worth 12 $ this one 4 $. Average life span of 7-10yrs . Perfect toast for years on end notice heat setting ,then has a further adjustment underneath. Olde but a goody. could beat most new toasters to bits with it , then make toast.

A Toaster Thread!?
Sounds like a 'First World Problem' to me
I think maybe we've owned about three toasters since we got married (back when the earth was young ). Our latest one (by Oster) has been with us for well over ten years now and it still works just fine.
Meanwhile, in other news, Russia has invaded the Ukraine!

Just walked over to look at the one I've had since about the late 80s or early 90s. Worked fine......see a new one there now.....she never did like it.
Don't know why, it always worked just fine for me.

Toasters
Remember those old GE Toasters that you put the bread into and the slices slowly dropped into the toaster as if by magic? Those toasters worked and lasted for at least a generation. That's why you don't see good appliances like that anymore, they last too long and the manufacturers make more money selling you crappy ones every couple of years.

Have gone through 2 of the costco 4 slice toasters in less than 2 years. Eventually one side will not stay down without the aid of a butter knife. Im pretty much over toast at this point.

Received a toaster for our wedding, when the wife finally pulled it out of the box, turns out it was recalled.
Went back to using my "bachelor" toaster - which had been running perfectly since the 70's.
Just recently replaced it with a fancy-schmantzy Cuisinart.

I remember a 3 day stint in Fort Mac in 2007 where Timmie's toasters were broken and you could not get a toasted bagel. 3 days.
For a Toaster. I was going to go to Walmart and buy them one.
We use a toaster oven at home with poor results. So I am following this thread with great interest.

Cuisinart convection toaster oven. First toaster oven I've had that is actually useful as an oven. Large enough to put a frozen pizza in and will do 6 slices of toast at a go. Not the fastest toaster around but gives good results.

Yup...love our toaster oven. Wifey uses it for a lot of cooking as well when she doesn't want to heat up the place with the big oven

The best ones are the Silex brand. They toast quickly, last for years and are dirt cheap!

Coffee/toast makers
Honestly I find these two make better toast and coffee than anything else out there...
(maybe it's the cabin surrounding them though)

YD wants one of these fancy new improved models,
I'm still happy with a bent coathanger.
I bought a four slice toaster. Works good until I try to put a slice of rye bread in it. Bread's too long and I have to cut it half. Drives me nuts. IBRB I have to post that on FB.

Look at the wattage label on the box or on the sticker on the toaster. Higher the better.
Also, don't buy a toaster with 4 slots. The max amperage you can get from a kitchen plug is 15 amps and you are splitting it between 4 slots instead of 2 so you get half the heat/slot with a 4 slot toaster.

I need a toaster with two long slots, to accommodate 4 normal slices of bread or two weird long slices of rye. Anyone??
I also made toast on the one pictured in my other post for years. That may account for my near OCD desire for blackened toast. Can not stand light toast.

Well I hope I surprised you then with "talkie toaster" the chirpy happy breakfast companion instead of "4 whole fried chickens and a coke...and some dry white toast please"
