That's nuts. Looks like it's time to sell it and buy a new one with the electronics that make it harder to steal. Theives know that older vehicles don't have these gadgets. Or maybe look into buying a Denver Boot. lol

Hidden kill switch placed somewhere in the vehicle might be a good idea and cheap.

Maybe the only solution (?)

The unsophisticated thieves are now largely stuck with the older vehicles. They are literally a target for this category of morons. That's why this, and to some extent the "club", are rather essential.
But the sophisticated ones (hard to imagine one's ambition in life to be such?) now literally carry cordless cutters that can take out a steel "club" in 30 seconds, and even laptops they can hook up to one's vehicle system and defeat the security with, for the newer models. Sad, but...?
The last item I read on the subject recommended the hidden "kill switch" as the most viable current affordable solution. But it is not necessarily "cheap" on newer vehicles, as it may need "integration" with the security system programming. And it has to be very "well hidden", as the sophisticated thieves are onto this already, and will find any "typical" location.
The best solution would probably be REAL legal punishment for car theft - real harsh penalties. But that seems unlikely to happen (?). Meanwhile, we all just pay through the nose on our insurance rates so that these scum can stay one step ahead of any efforts to defeat them.
