Default What's your routine for protecting your wood/blued rifles?

Well, now that draw results are known, thoughts turn to what gun is going to go afield this fall. I have decided that I am going to hunt this season with a beautiful wood/blue rifle again this year. Thought a thread would be informative to hear peoples' routines to protect their pretty guns from the environment.

My routine is to first ensure that the inletting and barrel channel is completely sealed with a few coats of a good sealing lacquer or varnish. After this, I use Howard's Feed n Wax on the stock for a few coats. On the barrel and action, I use a fairly liberal coating of gun oil. The end of the barrel also gets a wrap of tape before heading out. The gun then gets a good wipe down after coming in for the evening.

What's yours?

I use Johnson's paste wax on the barrels and stock when the weather is lousy!

I used to use corrosion x on tge metal, now I use frog lube. I tape the muzzle and wipe down as needed. Stocks I don't worry about.

Degrease and wipe on Dyna Gun Shield on the exterior metal and DBC inside the bore. Epoxy bed the action in the stock and seal the barrel channel with wax/gun oil, etc. Or just Krylon the wood...

You'd be surprised what one can do with car wax... Or hard cararuba wax and a buffing wheel....
