Disagree...its a perfect point. Those types of comparisons can and should be made in light of the types of the very uncanadian comments made here.

This disussion isn't about A religion, it's about ALL religions.

Here's the white elephant...Christians have been integral in all the major acts of oppression, abuse, persecution, and genocide of both other faiths and other sects of Christianity for the better part of 2000 years. But this acts where drivin by bad men using the faith of the masses to further there goals of control and oppression.

This act of kindness that has happened in Cold Lake shows the best of our nation.

Folks if we keep squabbling etc than the bad guys got what they wanted! Create chaos etc what was done was wrong in Cold Lake and is being corrected showing that no matter what angle terrorism attacks our nation will show resilience, perseverance and move on but if we argue or fight amongst our selfs than THEY win....food for thought!

Default I'm From Cold Lake

One side of the coin. I commend my fellow neighbours for trying to undo a senseless deed. Bravo! In fact, one of the members of that mosque offered to come to our house two years ago to give my seriously injured son a haircut because he was bedridden for two months. I didn't ask him, he offered it! He's a friend and neighbour, period!
The other side. I heard an interview from the Iman (sp) of the mosque in Vancouver on CBC that they asked the shooter to leave their mosque due to his radical beliefs. If that's true, did they inform the RC that a potential threat was unfolding? I think not. All I would ask from this point forward is that if any person of any religion recognizes the seeds of hate being spread that they stand up and let it be known.

I wonder if Moosehead and Mich realized several people from Cold Lake took their jets to Kuwait last week to 'do something' about the actual threat?

Good on you Cold Lake, on both accounts.

It truly makes me question the intelligence of humanity when you read some of the hate like was posted on this thread.

Good post!! Like Ive said before - I've never had a problem telling someone they've got no sense.

It takes the curageous to stand up to a lack of honor.

Sorry...I eally enjoyed your statements and I felt like you post called for cooler and honest thinking heads.

The "hate" I spoke about was with regards to other comments I read on this thread.

Christian, extremely so.

Now what?
He grew up in a Catholic home but later said to police that "It was too strict with all the Christianity"

His stated reasons for the attack had nothing to do with any religion.

He hardly seems extremely Christian.

Have you EVER been to ANY Christian church that promoted this kind of behaviour? Me neither.

That site is a bunch of bull. You can always take any sentence and interpret in a million ways. Also the word JEHAD in Arabic doesn't mean to wage war. It means to excel in something, whether be work, study, life..

Have you EVER been to ANY Islamic mosques that promoted this kind of behaviour? Me neither.

So would you say that there is a possibility they both exist or are you saying neither exist?

I was pointing out that calling the moncton shooter a Christian or saying he did it because of religion, seems wrong. He didn't attack the police because he felt it was his mission from God or the Bible instructed him to... (unlike our muslim friends)

Someone who commits a horrific act because of their religion is quite different than someone who does it regardless of their religion.

Use the pipe character "|" instead, it's closer - shift-\ normally above your enter key.

It's a simple, six step process (no guarantees / proceed at your own risk):

- turn computer off.
- disconnect keyboard from computer.
- run keybaord through dishwasher on the 'China' setting (detergent not recommended).
- dry thoroughly.
- reconnect to computer.
- cross your fingers, and turn computer back on.

I love how a faulty "L" key defused this entire thread.

I'd say "you're the man," but I like to be original, so I'll just infer it instead.

On a different note Edmonton Muslims are planning to visit the Alberta legislature to show support for our troops and condemn any acts of terrorism.

Press release

The Muslim Association of Canada (MAC) will hold Friday prayers at the Alberta Legislature Building (10820 – 98 Ave) on Friday, October 31st, at 1:30 PM, offering condolences to the victims of violence in Ottawa and Montreal over the past two weeks, while standing in solidarity with fellow Canadians in condemning these attacks.

We are horrified by these acts of violence, especially in the Parliament of our nation’s capital. MAC strongly rejects any threats against the safety and security of Canadians, and we consider it a civic duty on all to oppose such threats.

In times like these, we draw on our collective national character, to seek that Canadian sense of resilience; and dedication to duty and the work of the nation. MAC emphasizes the holistic message of Islam within the context of Canada’s diverse society.

Not going to bother feeding the trolls, I think rug and others have done a fine job responding. Incredible to see some of the opinions trotted out in this thread though.
