I have a regal vice. I would like a regal travel vice but the wife thinks my fishing vice costs too much already.

I have a cheap Chinese vice that I bought off Ebay a few years ago...seems to work well, and I paid $25 for it. How do you guys get approval from your accountant (spouse) to buy all this stuff??

I was teaching a fly tying class in BC, a fellow there who had tied for many years, had a poorly made vice. He struggled with keeping the hook clamped, centered and it was heavy and clunky to adjust. He was constantly adjusting it trying to keep up with the class.

I brought out my extra Renzetti and let him tie on that, it was like turning on a light bulb, he was tying instead of adjusting. He later confessed that he was seriously thinking of giving up tying and didn't tie much as it was a chore.

After a couple of classes he showed up with a new vice and new joy for tying. Like in many things decent tools are a joy to work with.

As far as approvals go you need an understanding spouse.
