NOPE!
I look around me and am happy with our provinces stance on crossbows for hunting.I hope it never changes.

Getting close to animals is easy, clicking off a safety is easy, coming to full draw without being seen ....now that's the hard part.

Isn't that the truth. You can give a 10 years old a crossbow and have them hitting bullseyes within minutes, no so with a bow.

I have done some archery hunting in Texas where they are legal but many of the outfitters discourage or ban their use. Mostly because too many hunters end up wounding game with them. According to the outfitters I know, the hunters don't practice as much as they should or they take unreasonable shots believing that the bow will perform like a gun. The result is an increased number of wounded game.

AGREED........sad part is the guys that have never hunted with a bow like to argue there is no difference, arrow is a arrow...maybe, but a crossbow looks more like a gun to me !

Some guns are banned because they look scary.

IMHO the worst thing is most are under the missconception that a crossbow will shoot out to a hundred yards ...and consistantly in a loonie size target...

From the high percentage I have seen use a crossbow on our ranges most as not even as accurate or consistant as the compound shooters...

This fall I met a young fellow that lost his right arm below elbow in a car accident...he bragged on his crossbow being 400 FPS plus fast and had a 100 yd pin that he could shoot the eye out of a deer at 100...

we watched search lights on the field into the wee hours looking for a deer he shot...

Doesnt mean a whole lot other than they are not the rifle shot many think they are!!

Agreed.

Just smile and nod at the rifle hunters who say that they were so close to the animal that they could have shot it with a bow.

Many times, I won't even try to draw my bow if an animal seems a bit hinky.
I let 'em go, knowing that they'll be back again some day.

Add me to the list of people who wouldn't like to see crossbows allowed during archery seasons.
