Default Thursday fishing at lake XXX

thought Id post a few pics from yesterdays fun.
fourth monster pike of the day! tried to eat a herring almost as big as he was, I had to take it away from 3 or 4 smaller pike, another reason I like a camera

this walleye wanted my herring too, thats the reason I keep another rod rigged with a jig and minnow for when these guys show up

and this is the same eye up close and personal

this was another biggie, hit my bait and dropped it just as fast so I will have to arrange a rematch. my favourite rigging method for herring, a single treble in the side of the head, and set with the tail on bottom and head off so they take the hook first thing, quick hookset and helps avoid deep hooking . also a good reason to use the camera so you can set it just right.

look at the size of that head! (hers not mine)

yah I was holding her close so she wouldnt slip, she was strong as an ox, but I was totally wet anyways, had to go elbow deep to get ahold of her. she wrapped up in my camera cable but she managed to get undone fortunately. I was picturing my new motorized tripod getting yanked through the hole

and the release video

Wayne,

That is one hog of a slough shark, I have to say I'm a bit jealous of lake xxx. I'm just guessing but that pig looks to be over 20? Good job I have never pulled a pike of that size out of an ice fishing hole!

thats the little girl I have posted at the top in the derby entries, going by the charts and her belly I give her about 25 pounds. hoping to meet her mamma this winter! there were a couple young guys fishing near me, and a lot nearer after I caught her they were using a 6 inch auger, I dont know what they would do if they caught one that size, but it would sure be fun to watch! shes the reason I do double holes, especially in thicker ice.

Sucked setting up with the windchill. But once the tents up its not bad at all with the heater going. Fishing is slow but still beats sitting at home

That blurred out background looks like a car in blowing snow. I was cringing before I realized it was just blurred out and not an actual car.
